My first Zombi Race, and I survived

24 Feb

Last night I experienced my first Zombi Race.

This was the first time I have ever done a 5k willingly. But where there are Zombies involved, I am there

The whole goal was to not get infected and beat the other teams.

My team was guaranteed to win because the black guys never die in the movies.

Or do they….

We survived. Our team is badass. In case there is ever a zombie outbreak, please be sure to have us on your team. We are survivors. But remember, Please don’t feed the zombies. If you give a zombie a cookie, he’ll want a glass of milk.

The Voice Season 2 Episode 4

20 Feb

First off I have to say I am addicted to The Voice. Seriously.  Band rehearsal went long this evening so I rushed home and in a rush reheated dinner, changed the channel to NBC and Wheel of Fortune was finishing up. I was feeling impatient, while I waited for it to go off and had to check myself. Its only a TV show right? Wrong. Its the effing Voice. And its awesome.

The first artist up tonight is Ducky (@duckydukemusic). He is a painter and from the artwork they show he seems to be really good. How does he rate as a singer though? For his Blind Audition he sings ‘Tighten Up’. He has a nice rocker voice, and he seems like he could be an interesting addition to someone’s team. Of course Carson Daly asks ‘where is Adam in all of this?’. Unfortunately, no coach turns around. Blake says that Ducky is one of those he will look back and regret a little bit. Blake’s cool factor keeps going up. He offered Ducky a sip from his cup after Ducky said he may need a shot (he said sarsaparilla but isn’t that root beer?). Blake are you drinking on the job? BEST JOB EVER!

Next artist is Jonathas Ojeda (@iknowJonathas), from Austin, TX. ( TEXAS BABY!!) He is Brazilian and a family man. For his Blind Audition, he busts out  ’You Got It Bad’ by Usher. Adam says he sounds exactly like Usher and Blake says he’s gotta be good looking.   Cee Lo Green is the first coach to turn around, and surprisingly XTINA turns around. Cee Lo said he thought it was a prank because it sounded so much like Usher. Xtina said it was clear that the ladies loved him and were body rocking. She also knows some of the best choreographers and wants to mold him. Cee Lo asks what kind of watch he is wearing and for a moment they bond over watches.  Jonathas says he is a big fan of Cee Lo, but has always had the hots for Xtina. In the end, its Team Xtina.

Monique Benabou (@MoniqueBenabou) is the next artist and  for her Blind Audition she sings ‘Mr Know It All’ by Kelly Clarkson. She has a nice voice. Very pop-ish.  I feel like she might go to Team Blake but no one is turning around. Finally Xtina turns around.  Why: because Xtina said she was generally consistent and she delivered.  Team Xtina.

Next up is Naia Kete (@naiakete), a street performer. Carson Daly surprises her during a performance on the street. I friggin love these moments when he does this. When they show her with her family, I really get a gypsy vibe from her. They all have long locs and the girls wear long dresses. Its dope.  For her song she starts ‘The Lazy Song’ and Blake Shelton is the first coach to turn around. As soon as she hits a high part in the song, Cee Lo pushes his button. Cee Lo of course calls her an angel and then says “I PUSHED MY BUTTON FOR YOU.” And she replies, “Cee Lo you push all my buttons.”  Blake throws his arms up and says “I’m screwed” but he goes on to say that when he heard her voice, it instantly made her smile.  The coaches are laying it on thick.  Cee Lo and Blake are really fighting for her. In the end, Naia picks Team Blake!

SIDENOTE: I think a shot game could be created everytime Blake says the work UNIQUE .

The next artist is Eric Macek (@erikmacek), a CZECH dude. For his Blind Audition he sings ‘Free Falling’. He has a cool voice.  I dig the mellow vibe. That is all me. But none of the coaches turn around. Blake tells him he wouldn’t change a damn thing that he did and he almost pushed the button. But he didn’t. Blake said UNIQUE again in the after-thought interview.

The next artist is Charlotte Sometimes (@4eversometimes). Unfortunately, when she was younger she was diagnosed with a disease that disintegrates the jaw but she had surgery, had her jaw wired shut for 5 months and now she is able to pursue her dreams! For her Blind Audition she sings “Apologize” and I get a Lana Del Rey vibe from her. Adam and Blake turn around for her at the same time. Suddenly the rest of the coaches turn around. 4 JUDGES! Blake lets everyone know that he had a girl with a similar vibe (Xenia) and she now has a record deal. These coaches are fighting for this girl. Adam says he heard a cool and simple thing with her voice, and Xtina says she doesn’t think it was simple at all. But as they argue Cee Lo says that Adam and Xtina need to get a room. Ha. In the end Charlotte choose Blake. Team Blake. I like the victory pumps Blake does when he gets an artist.

The next artist up is Tony Vincent (@tvofficial), who is a Broadway star (kind of like Frenchie right?) For his Blind Audition he sings Queen “We Are The Champions”  and this dude is rocking out on stage! Cee Lo is the only coach to turn around. Cee Lo questions if the other coaches’ ears are burned up from having such a great vocal performance. Blake says that Cee Lo is an over the top artist and perfect for Tony. Team Cee Lo baby!

Anthony Evans (@anthonyevansjr) is the next artist (DALLAS TEXAS!!), son of a well-known Pastor and his dad looks like Steve Harvey.  He is trying to define himself as an artist and I bet he is trying to get away from being pegged as Gospel, or at least show how versatile he can be.  For his Blind Audition he sings ‘What’s Going On’. He definitely has a church vibe.  I like his falsetto. As soon as he does this vocal riff Xtina pushes that button. Xtina says she thinks he has a beautiful voice. She was waiting to hear something spectacular at the end and when he started hitting those runs, that was her moment. Team Xtina.

The next artist works in a sandwich shop and his name is Jamie Lono (@JamieLono). I feel slighted in the way that Carson Daly did not present him with his invitation. It looks like his supervisor did.  I guess that is a good way to let your job know that you are going to be gone for a while! If not indefinitely. But let’s not put all of our eggs in one basket. (What does that mean?) For his Blind Audition he sings ‘Folsom Prison Blues’ and Adam Levine pushes his button immediately. Cee Lo also turns around.   Adam says he is so soulful. The song choice was amazing. Different and Soulful. In the end he goes to team Cee Lo! Wow. Though Adam turned around first, he still went with Cee Lo! So far, tonight Adam still has no one! Team Cee Lo.

ANOTHER SHOT GAME: TAKING A SHOT EVERYTIME CEE LO SAYS: ENDORSE.

Next up is Dylan Chambers (@dylan_chambers) from ARLINGTON, TX (TEXAS STAND UP!). For his Blind Auditions, he sings ‘Valerie’ I am digging his vibe! I love this song and he is doing a really good job. But none of the coaches turned around.

They do a quick run through of artists that don’t make it, which is really nice of them. They didn’t have to show any of them.

The next artist is Justin Hopkins (@jhopsmusicbox), and he was actually one of Carson Daly’s guitarists in the house band. For his Blind Audition he performs ‘Babylon’. He had a resigned look on his face when it almost seems no coach is going to turn around, when suddenly Cee Lo turns around. He did say earlier he would like to be on Cee Lo’s team. You got your wish dude! TEAM CEE LO!

Up next is Nicolle Galyon (@nicatnitemusic), who wants to be the first country artist pianist. For her Blind Audition she sings ‘You Save Me’. Adam is the first to turn around. And it looks like Adam may actually score this one! Afterwards, Adam gives her a standing ovation and lets the other coaches know they are dumb.  He says he is happy because when she wasn’t nervous, she was so special. Team Adam. His first artist of the night. Good job Adam.

They quickly Ashley De La Rosa (@UKnowAshleyDLR) goes to Team Xtina, Jordan Rager [(@Jordan__Rager) <<--- that is 2 underscores] who goes to Team Blake, Karla Davis (@KarlaDavisMusic) goes to Team Adam, Alyx (@FollowAlyx) goes to Team Blake.

Eric Tipton (@RealEricTipton) is 31 years old, 6 ft and 300 lbs. SANGER, TX. (hello fellow TEXAN!) For his Blind Audition he sings “You Make My Dreams” and he has a really nice soft tone to his voice, with moments of power.  Unfortunately no coach turns around.  He did really well though.

Mathai (@mathaimusic) from Dallas, Texas (another TEXAN!) is sexy. Hands down. Her family is in the business of making doctors, but she wants to follow her dreams of being an artist. For her Blind Audition she sings ‘Rumor Has It’, which you know I already love as I love Adele. Obviously Mathai and I are meant to be together. If her parents find me acceptable.  Adam Levine is the first coach who turns around. Mathai’s mom is really giddy and I love how she starts to do a little happy dance. Soon Blake turns around. Followed by Cee Lo. The guys must’ve heard sexy cos they all turned around. Blake calls her a star. But in the end she chooses Adam!

Another great episode of The Voice! I was a little more excited about this episode more than last week. And I found my wife. And my favorites in this episode are Jonathas Ojeda (@iknowJonathas) and Mathai (@mathaimusic). Also I think everyone in America learned that Texas talent is abundant and diverse.

What did you think about tonight’s episode? Any favorites? Let me know!

Until next week.

LLAP.

The Voice Season 2 Episode 3

14 Feb

Tonight we start off with Sarah Golden’s Blind Audition similar to how mine went in the first season, where we only see her shadowy outline as she discusses how she is judged by her looks and sometimes people dismiss her without giving her talent a chance. This made me really curious to hear how her voice sounds. And what could be so hideous about her that we could only see her outline?  She begins singing a mellow version of Lady Gaga’s You and I and she is playing a guitar, so you know that adds points in my book. (I know, I know. Its a competition about THE VOICE). My first thought is she has a cool voice (i would choose her), and the judges appear to be soaking it in, while the cameras still  let us see her face, teasing us with the back of her head. Suddenly Cee Lo’s chair turns around and suddenly we see a normal looking girl (Sarah, she just has a very boyish hair cut) pointing at Cee Lo singing the words “You and I”. At almost the last second, Blake’s chair turns around.  During Sarah’s selection process she becomes flustered and says she wants them both. To which Cee Lo quips “Well you cant handle us both baby” Yesss the innuendo is in full force! In the end she chooses Cee Lo.

Next up we meet Ellie and she is singing Mercy. Honestly I loved it. I love the song and it was a great choice for her but  none of the judges turned around.

The next audition is Pip Andrew, a 19 year old theater kid who is wearing a bowtie, clearly an homage to Doctor Who. (okay maybe not)  He starts off singing House of the Rising Sun. He has a really good voice.  He kind of reminds me of Devon from Season 1 so i didn’t think it was odd for Adam to turn around. Soon  Blake turns around. Then Xtina, then Cee Lo. All 4 judges turn around. In the end Pip goes with Adam.  Good choice? We shall see…

The next artist is Erin Willett  singing “I want You Back”  for her Blind Audition. Blake was the only coach to turn around.  Blake also let XTINA know she screwed up for not turning around. Blake saysErin has a very powerful voice and he loves seeing the crowd get excited about who was on stage. “great voice and the crowd going for you, and youre on my team whether you like it or not!” Team Blake for Erin Willett.

Next up is David Grace.  He is a huge dude. Played football. From Texas (TEXAS STAND UP) He really looks like a UFC fighter. He sings “Sweet Home Alabma” and he has an awesome voice! Unfortunately no one turned around. Blake says his dips confused him. He wasn’t sure if he was doing it on purpose or just looking for the note. Adam says it was a little too much sliding up.

Our next artist is Katrina Parker. Her look reminds me of one of the singers off of Boardwalk Empire. And Katrina,  I saw that back tattoo!! For her Blind Audition, she sings One Of Us. She has a beautiful voice. Adam Levine turns around and has a great smile one his face.   Adam tells her I WIN. He also says there were moments that weren’t perfect, but it was different and that was what he loves about her. #teamadam (I respect you Katrina. Team Cubicle. Many of us have worked in a cubicle at one point)

Geoff McBride is the next audition and appears to be the oldest person on the show 51 years old. He wears sunglasses because when he was younger he was in kickboxing and got a thumb to the eye which tore his retina. OUCH. For his Blind Audition he sings HIGHER GROUND. The first note he gives us lets everyone know this dude has power! Wow.  He gives me a church vibe. Xtina was the first coach to turn around (i think she loved the first note too). I love seeing the coaches motion to each other they should turn around. Suddenly Cee Lo Turns around. I feel like he could be a perfect fit for Cee Lo. Adam tells Geoff he can sing his ass off. Xtina says the very first note he sang blew him away.  I love it when Cee Lo pulls the soul card and then Xtina fights back with a “I do have soul too!” In the end he goes with Xtina.

Erin Martin is our next artist and she used to be a model. She says she is doing the Voice because she has done a lot of showcases for industry folks and they have told her she needs more artist development (which is something I dislike about the industry. Not a lot of labels are looking to help develop artists anymore) For her Blind Audition she sings Hey There Delilah. Erin has this wierd tone in her voice and sounds very different from everyone else so far. Of Blake Shelton turns around immediately. He seems to want all things different and new. The second coach to turn around is Cee Lo so you know after Erin is done, Cee Lo immediately begins the flirting and addresses her as “Honey.”  I love it when he turns around for a pretty girl. He says she is a “beautiful creature of a woman” and “quite naturally you belong to me don’t you agree?”  But she came back with “clearly that’s up for debate.” Haha. Awesome.  Blake says she is the special sound that he has never heard before. Surprisingly, she goes with CEE LO!!

The next audition is from James Masserone. And for his Blind Audition he sings a Drake song, Find Your Love. And this dude sounds black. I love the excitement in his face when the coaches turn around, and Jesse has 3 coaches vying for his affections: Xtina, Blake and Cee Lo. Adam first reaction after the song is over is to scream’s “he’s white?!” Haha. James then asks Adam “what happened to you?” Adam said when he saw all 3 turn around and said he would let the three of them fight over James. Finally it comes to the POWER OF CHOICE. And he says he doesn’t want to offend anyone in the group but he goes with CEE LO! Cee Lo is raking in the artists in this episode. He seems to be the cool guy everyone wants to get to know.

Winter Ray is from Iowa and she is an awesome rocker looking chick with tattoos and blue hair. For her Blind Audition she busts out with Take A Bow, by Rihanna which I think is another perfect example of how the voice and song choice can totally surprise you when you see the person singing. Hanging out backstage with Carson Daly we catch a glimpse of Perez Hilton cheering her on. Unfortunately no one turned around for her. I hate that the last line she sang was “but its over now.” Its sad but she should know she is talented.  I am sure we will see more of her in the future. It doesn’t hurt to have Perez Hilton in your corner.

The next artist is Chris Cauley and for his blind audition singing BRUNO MARS!! GRENADES.  It took a long time for someone to turn around but eventually Cee Lo turned. Then Adam turned around. Cee Lo, in typical Cee Lo fashion tells Chris that he was very pleased with his performance.  Adam tried to explain the reason for waiting so long to turn around was because he wanted his 12 people to be amazing, so he was trying to figure out if Chris really was amazing.  This is where Chris jokingly says he wants Adam and Cee Lo to arm wrestle for it, and Adam says he would lose that one. In the end, Chris goes to Team Adam.

The next 3 artists they didn’t really showcase their talent, which I find disappointing but I guess we shall see how they stack up in the Battle Rounds later on in the competition. Nathan Parrett for Team Adam; Brian Fuente for Team Blake; and Moses Stone, this competition’s first MC for Team Xtina. I wish we had seen his performance, especially since he is our first rap artist. That could’ve been a really special moment for television. I wonder how his Battle Round is going to go being he is probably paired with a singer. How can you compare a singer to a rap artist? Can Moses sing? I guess we will find out.

Finally, our last artist up for her Blind Audition is Jordis Unga a dope Tongan chick (#teampoly). The music for Maybe I’m Amazed begins and Adam, from his chair, says he loves the song already, but as Jordis starts singing, Blake is the first Coach to turn around. Soon Xtina and Cee Lo turn around. Afterwards, as the coaches get to finally see who she is, I notice Adam has been making a lot of excuses for not turning around for people tonight. Blake says that she makes him want to be a better vocalist. Blake also said he was the first person to turn around. He also lets her know that Dia, who was on his team Season 1, actually is on tour with him now. Blake is pulling out all the stops to get this girl on his team.  Christina points out that while Blake is busy touring she will actually be available to mentor her. Jordis lets everyone know that she wants a coach that is interested in taking her to the end of the competition, as Blake points to himself. In the end, Jordis goes to Team Blake.

I don’t know if I have any favorites from tonight. I feel everyone was really good, but I guess I need to hear more from everyone as the competition progresses.  Who do you think has the strongest team right now?

The Grammy Voices: My predictions

12 Feb

Tonight the Grammy Awards show airs on CBS tonight. I am sure there will be a somber tone tonight after the unexpected death of Whitney Houston. It looks like Jennifer Hudson is set to perform a tribute tonight in her honor, which I am sure will be really good. Also tonight there will be an Etta James tribute by Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt, a duet between Rihanna and Coldplay, a duet between Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood and Adele will be singing tonight! I am very excited to hear Adele since she has been on vocal rest for so long. I wonder if there will be a tribute to Don Cornelius?

I am not an authority on good music. I just know what music I enjoy listening to  and which artists stir something inside of me when I hear their voices. So I am just going to list the artists I hope win a Grammy or 2 tonight. I’m sorry if I put too much faith in Adele but I really hope she cleans up this at this awards show tonight. As my friend Mandy would say, she is going to come in with a broom and SWEEP.  I will also do my best to live tweet during the ceremony.

The Voice: Season 2 Episode 2

7 Feb

Sorry for the late post. I was out last night with my good friends from GOOGLE and I didn’t watch the episode of The Voice until 1am. (thank you dvr gods) So Lets GET INTO IT!

Tonight the coaches kicked off the episode singing a medley of PRINCE songs. A lot of these songs go over my head. My parents would not let us listen to Prince music growing up, but the ones I recognized I bobbed my head to. Its always cool to see the coaches onstage performing together so it was definitely a treat.  And the Voice Band gets major props for being badasses.  I love how in every song that is a collaborative effort involving XTINA, you know she is going to make sure she has the last note.

BLIND AUDITIONS

The first to step up was the duo, “The Line” (Haley and Leland). Their BLIND AUDITION song was AMERICAN GIRL. Their voices didn’t really pull me in on this song but I enjoyed seeing both of them playing guitars. They seem to have a good presence and they are comfortable with each other on stage. Blake was the first coach to turn around. As soon as the coaches realized it was a duo, the rest followed suit. I think the 4 coaches just really want to have a duo on their teams. The Coaches each made their cases, and it seemed very overwhelming for the duo to make a decision but in the end they choose TEAM XTINA.

JAMAR ROGERS is the next artist. A little backstory on him: he is HIV positive, was homeless, and was addicted to crystal meth.  CARSON DALY actually went to NY to let JAMAR know he was going to be going to LA for his audition. That was a cool moment to see the shock on his face and how greatful he was for this chance.  Small moments like this make me love this show even more. For JAMAR’s BLIND AUDITION he sings SEVEN NATION ARMY. Now I really dig this dude’s voice. He reminds me of LYFE JENNINGS mixed with CEE LO GREEN. The coaches all seem to enjoy the performance while they had their backs turned but Cee Lo was the only coach to turn around, but that was the only coach JAMAR wanted. TEAM CEE LO!

And he is my first favorite voice of the night.

Short Pause: Where the hell does this WHITE CAT come from Cee Lo? He has a Doctor Evil thing going on with this cat.

Next up is NEAL MIDDLETON: the family man. Backstory: No health insurance and he fell off a building hurting himself severly to where doctors thought he was going to be paralyzed.  The man is a fighter. For his BLIND AUDITION song a 70′s rock version of I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE.  I feel the male rockers have a hard time on this show. Everyone wants a POP or R&B star. The guy had power in his voice and didnt seem to have pitch problems but not a judge turned around. I hope he keeps at it.

Our next artist is GWEN SEBASTIAN. Backstory: he really wants kids and she wants to hold off to pursue her dreams. Well she says they made the decision together, but it seems like he really wants kids. For her BLIND AUDITION song she performed STAY. Hearing her, I felt she was perfect for BLAKE.  It took a while, but he finally turned around for her. Surprisingly, so did Cee Lo to which BLAKE screams DAMMIT CEE LO. And then ADAM turns around. And Blake shakes his fist to ADAM. BLAKE calls them bastards and says that they are just doing it to get under his skin.  I think the coaches are really taking the strategy seriously this season and turning around for some artists in effort to steal from a coach who may’ve turned around first. Smart.  In the end GWEN chooses TEAM BLAKE.

The next artist up is PAMELA ROSE, a beautiful girl from Florida. For her BLIND AUDITION she sang ALREADY GONE. No coach turned around and as soon as she finished the male coaches looked to be kicking themselves. The coaches suggested she worked on her pitch. I can understand.

The next artist is KIM YARBOROUGH. She looks like CHAKA KHAN. Straight up. She is 50 years old and she looks good for 50. Her Blind Audition song was TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD (no surprise there). The coaches seem to groove for a bit. Cee Lo looks dirty while he is grooving in his chair. Both Adam and XTINA turn around.  After KIM finishes they both begin to fight over her. I have to admit, I love the banter this season. I was hoping KIM would pick ADAM and she did. I feel it was a good choice. And he was the first to turn around for her. TEAM ADAM.

The next artist is SSGT ANGIE JOHNSON. An asian military chick. And she is hot.  She gained youtube notoriety from a video one of her fellow soldiers posted of her singing ROLLING IN THE DEEP while she was deployed, and suddenly it had a million views. Before THE VOICE even started CARSON DALY saw the video and tweeted about how a hot chick was defending the country and singing such beautiful music. For her BLIND AUDITION she sang HEARTBREAKER. CEE LO was the only coach to turn around but it looked like the all of the coaches really enjoyed it.  CEE LO asked ANGIE if she was as beautiful as he thought she was, and suddenly pulled out a huge pair of sunglasses, put em on and then everyone laughs. Its funny to me how everyone laughs so much at CEE LO. ANGIE is TEAM CEE LO!

DEZ DURON is the next artist, a former YALE football player who gives up school and his football career to audition for The Voice. For his BLIND AUDITION he sings I WANT IT THAT WAY. All of the coaches were yelling at ADAM to push the button but he didn’t. None of the coaches turned around. ADAM said that he felt that he wouldn’t mix well with his style (this coming from the coach that wanted a country girl right?) I really liked DEZ. I am sad to see him go. I don’t know if that is my inner teenage girl that became nostalgic from hearing BACKSTREET BOYS. C’mon.

The next artist is LINDSAY PAVAO and she is emphasizing heavily how much she likes to put her own spin on songs. Her BLIND AUDITION song is Trey Songz SAY AAH. I wasn’t feeling this version but I think she has potential to be really awesome.  Her voice is sultry and different.  Gotta watch out for this one. She could be a major player. XTINA, CEE LO and BLAKE all turn around. BEST QUOTE from XTINA: I JUST WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU. Very funny. In the end LINDSAY goes to TEAM XTINA. I think it was that I JUST WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU that sealed the deal.

Next up is HOJA LOPEZ. I really liked her and her style. She had a Betty Paige thing going on. For her Blind AUDITION she sings TEENAGE DREAM. She was a little shaky but I liked her voice and how she pronounced her words.  I could kind of tell no one was going to turn around for her. And when no one did, my heart went out to her.

Next we see someone they teased us with last night: JERMAINE PAUL. He was a background singer for Alicia Keys. For his BLIND AUDITION he sings COMPLICATED. His voice reminds me of RAY J or TREY SONGZ. CEE LO GREEN turns around. Suddenly BLAKE turns around which surprised me. Afterwards JERMAINE wants the coaches to say instead that they want him, they want to KEEP him. He seems a little cocky but happy to have the coaches fight over him. He ends up on TEAM BLAKE. That was a really good steal by BLAKE from CEE LO. I had no idea JERMAINE would pick BLAKE.

Finally (WHEW) we meet ANGEL TAYLOR whose music I am already familiar with so its very cool to see her on The Voice this season.  For her BLIND AUDITION song she sings SOMEONE LIKE YOU. Adam Levine turns around and backstage ANGEL’s family goes ballistic. BLAKE soon follows suit. Followed by CEE LO.  There is more bickering between BLAKE and ADAM. CEE LO is strangely quiet. ANGEL is a beautiful girl and CEE LO hasnt flirted once, despite turning around for her. Suddenly ANGEL tells BLAKE that she has a massive crush on him. Seems like ADAM doesnt have a chance after that. But she ends up choosing TEAM LEVINE.

It was a good night for BLIND AUDITIONS.

My favorites of the night are JAMAR ROGERS and LINDSAY PAVAO.

Who are your favorites?

The Voice: Season 2 Episode 1

6 Feb

HELLO VOICE LOVERS AND FRIENDS———-

HERE WE ARE WITH SEASON 2 OF NBC’s HIT SHOW THE VOICE!!

LETS GET RIGHT INTO IT

From Baytown, Texas  (TEXAS BABY! stand up) 17 year old RAE LYNN sounds like a country star before she even starts singing. For her Blind Audition she sings “Hell On Heels” by Miranda Lambert. If you remember from first Season, we had 2 voice contestants sing a Miranda Lambert song and a Blake Shelton song but he did not turn around for either.  Luckily for her it worked. 2 Coaches turned around: Adam and Blake. As soon as Rae Lynn said that Miranda Lambert was one of her heroes, I knew she would go with Blake. Then Adam threw in that dig that he could make her more than a country star. Lol. What did that mean?

In the end she picks up with TEAM BLAKE.

next up we have JESSE CAMPBELL. a nice touching story: gospel singer with some success back in the day, then becomes homeless and has to raise his daughter alone. he steps out singing “A Song For You” by Donny Hathaway. 3 Chairs turn around immediately. Blake holds out for about 5 more seconds before his chair turns around. Jesse kind of gives me a Javier Colon type vibe. Definitely going to be a strong player. The Coaches banter for a little bit, Cee Lo pulling the black card out immediately (dap!), Christina saying soul recognizes soul regardless of color, to which Cee Lo retorts “everybody’s the same color with the lights off”  (best quote so far)

in the end Jesse ends up on TEAM XTINA

Next is Danny Rosa. He is a big guy and for his BLIND AUDITION he sings NEON TREE’s Animal. Blake said he was pitchy. His parent’s were back stage rooting him on but he didnt make it. But he did something i thought was smart. He asked what could he have done better. And they told him to work on his pitch. They were really nice to him. Keep it up!

next up, Juliet Simms from FLORIDA. her Blind Audition starting off raspy singing “Oh! Darling” and ADAM LEVINE and CEE LO turned around quickly. she performed her ass off and then fell to her knees (we call that pulling a NAKIA). eventually XTINA turned around. and the coaches begin pitching their cases. And Adam said “Xtina is one of the greatest singers on Earth, but not the greatest coach” to which XTINA says Adam is “Trynna be like Justin Timberlake.” And then Cee Lo says she turned him on. LOL. They were really fighting over her.

in the end Juliet ends on TEAM CEE LO.

The next artist comes from Kansas: Chris Mann. Sad Story: His mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. That is rough. Sending him and his family prayers. I love that she supports his dreams. He is an extension of her so I get it. Alright, for his Blind Audition he sings “Because We Believe” and started in Italian. The Balls on this guy! His voice was pretty dope. I want to know how he would sound on something mainstream. But Cee Lo’s chair turned around first. Followed by Xtina. They bickered for a bit but i think they really liked his performance a lot.

in the end he goes with TEAM XTINA.

Lastly, we have TONY LUCCA, a former Mouseketeer that used to know Christina Aguilera. interesting. For his blind audition he sings TROUBLE by Ray Lamontagne and the first coach to turn is Adam Levine, followed by Xtina, followed by Blake Shelton and finally Cee Lo, who was already going to push his button but had a little help from Adam Levine. Adam digs in with his pitch to be on TEAM LEVINE. Everytime Cee Lo says something, the audience laughs. But he is everyone’s friend and tries to use that to his advantage to gain Tony as a team member. Xtina doesnt seem to remember him (understandable) as she goes into how she loves his voice. Blake says that he is impressed as well.

in the end he goes on TEAM LEVINE.

nice moment: when XTINA goes backstage to see Tony Lucca because she finally recognizes him. and she said Britney had the biggest crush on him and his wife’s eyes got huge! LOL.

I am excited about this season’s potential! The talent is so dope right now!
